For the TerraFund program, partnership is the basis of a meaningful restoration project. Our initiatives are designed to create an impact and collaboratively solve problems faced by restoration champions. This is why TerraFund is working with different external partners who can join this journey and effectively support champions.
Champions should expect partnership to adhere to the following guidelines of engagement:
1. Expect your future partner to share a clear timeline and plan for your engagement before your work starts.
Champions should also expect to be assigned a TerraFund Partner Liaison, who will lead communications with the project management team and ensure that the partnership proceeds as planned.
2. Expect to be part of an introductory call where your partner clearly defines expectations for the work.
Following this call, the plan, expectations, and information needed from champions will be communicated with transparency . Restoration champions will be allowed to share their thoughts for any next steps and improvements needed for that process.
3. Expect 3-4 weeks' notice of any in-person activities of the program (such as site visits) and be prepared to share relevant information to support your partner’s planning.
To successfully make a plan that fits for all, especially for in-person activities, champions should receive clear communication on timing, the activity to be conducted, and the parties involved. If the partner makes any changes to plans for in-person participation, they must also communicate that to champions with two weeks.
4. All engagements are voluntary, and champions are allowed to decline partnership invitations if they are not comfortable with the requirements, expected outcomes, or do not have the capacity to participate.
Champions are not obligated to participate in any external partnership activity, outside monitoring, reporting, and verification requirements. For any assistance, they can contact their project manager or portfolio specialist assigned to them. If champions no longer wish to take part in an existing partnership, they can contact their project management team with their concerns.
Champions are advised to provide at least two weeks' notice of changes for any planned in-person activities. If champions decide to no longer participate in an activity that they have previously agreed to, they will work with their project management team to decide the best course of action.
In all activities, champions are free to share their opinion to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome. Champions should not feel pressured to answer any questions that they are unsure of or uncomfortable with. They can ask for clarification in order to provide the inputs needed. If they prefer to answer the question after the activity or time of questioning, they are welcome to share your responses via email, after the fact.
Feedback and Lodging a Complaint
Champions should expect to submit a feedback form within a week after completing the partnership engagement, i.e., once a learning workshop is concluded, where the champion can inform the TerraFund team about what went well and what didn’t go well in the engagement. This same form can be used to lodge a formal complaint to the TerraFund team. That process is outlined here
