The Land Accelerator Africa encourages entrepreneurs to integrate new tools and ways of thinking to grow their businesses. The Land Accelerator places program requirements to help entrepreneurs maximize learning and company growth. The team also utilizes these deliverables as tools to select companies for Phase 2. Program requirements are mandatory for all members of Land Accelerator Africa in order to maximize the benefits of the program, to receive a certificate, and to be eligible for selection to Phase 2 of the Land Accelerator.
Requirement 1: Attendance
Each company must attend at least 9 of the 12 weekly Tuesday virtual webinars.
- 12 weekly webinars, two hours each week, Tuesdays (3pm Ghana time (GMT), 4pm Nigeria time (WAT), 5pm Rwanda time (CAT), 6pm Kenya time (EAT)) from April 23, 2024, through July 9, 2024.
- Attendance on Zoom is tracked. Each company can have up to two official participants for whom attendance is counted toward the company total. Additional company members can also participate in virtual trainings, but their attendance will not be counted.
- We understand that poor internet connectivity and other issues out of your control may get in the way of participation in the weekly webinars. If virtual attendance is an issue for your company, please note this in your application.
Requirement 2: Deliverables
Pitch Deck, Site Visit Video, Website
Land Accelerator training sessions will teach you how to create these deliverables. Requirement guidelines for each deliverable will be provided. All deliverables will be reviewed by Land Accelerator staff for completeness and quality to assess completion of the Land Accelerator program and for selection of the Phase 2 cohort. Submissions that do not meet guidelines will be required to revise and resubmit.
Requirement 3: Surveys
Surveys will be issued periodically throughout the Land Accelerator, completion is mandatory. These surveys will collect company information and feedback on Land Accelerator programming. Surveys are vital for the team to understand the impact of this program on companies, how to improve the program, and to share results.
Optional, yet encouraged, programming
Each Thursday, the Land Accelerator core team organizes Peer Sessions which are meant to engage entrepreneurs beyond the topics covered. These sessions are open to both the Land Accelerator Africa and Land Accelerator Landscapes cohorts. Thursday virtual sessions are encouraged, but not required for program completion. The Thursday sessions focus on presentations of business models from peers who are restoring land, as well as networking sessions amongst cohort members.
Requirements for the Land Accelerator Landscapes cohorts
Requirements for Land Accelerator Landscapes cohort members are similar to the list above and will be set by the Landscape program partners and WRI. Deliverables required remain the same but different trainings, mentorship opportunities, and workshops, both virtual and in-person, will be offered through the Landscapes program. All will also be invited to join virtual trainings offered to the Land Accelerator Africa cohort. Details will be shared with selected cohorts. Please see this overview of the Land Accelerator Partners for a preview of what is being planned for your Landscape.
