Since January 2024, we have made important changes to the TerraFund progress reports on TerraMatch to clarify what is required for each question, simplify the language for better understanding and added a few other questions to give you a space to explain your work progress. In addition, we also made some small changes to the content of your TerraFund project, site and nursery reports. Click here to learn how to use TerraMatch to submit reports.
To guide you even more we have developed a guidance document to explain each of the questions in detail as well as how to answer them while reporting: please download it here TerraFund for 100 Reporting Guidance.
For July 2024 report we have made slight improvements to reporting questions. These changes are divided into 2 types:
- Updated Questions: Updates to make questions clearer to align with updates to the monitoring framework.
- New Questions: New questions to help your team report better on your project’s progress.
Below we detail the changes and provide an updated checklist per report. If you need help with any of these changes, please email info@TerraMatch .org or reach out to your project manager or portfolio specialist.

Project Reports
Updated Questions
1. Split between the landscape and community updates
Before we asked, "How has your project progressed toward the overall restoration goals of the landscape and the community?*". This has now been updated to "How has your project progressed toward its goals of restoring the landscape?*".
2. Clarifying the significant changes due to your restoration activities
Before we asked, "What is the most significant change that your team has observed during the past six months?*". This has been updated to "What is the most significant change that your team has observed as a result of your restoration work during the past six months?*"
3. Clearer descriptions regarding increases in beneficiaries’ income
To make this question clearer, we updated the description to indicate that we expect your response to address the following details:
- Cause identification: Explain the specific reasons why their income rose.
- Value chain association: Identify the particular value chains that contributed to the income boost.
- Multiple income increases: If individuals experienced multiple income increases throughout the project, explain why each occurred.
New Questions
1. Equitable opportunities for women and the youth
We added a question (How has your organisation progressed towards community engagement and socio-economic development goals) to make it easier to share the progress made by your project towards providing equitable opportunities for women and youth to influence restoration activities and decisions in your project’s activities.
2. Clarifying your approach to community engagement
To better understand how your project engages with the community where you carry out restoration work, we added a question (Define your organisation's approach to community engagement in the past 6 months) to capture your project's community engagement strategy. Below are the definitions of the responses to this question.
- Locally implemented: The project was developed by the organisation and implemented by project beneficiaries.
- Locally managed: The project was developed with local beneficiaries on the ground, and ideas from the organization were amended to fit local contexts.
- Locally planned: The project was planned with local people while the final decisions and implementation were done by the organisation
3. Has your project added a new site in the last 6 months?
To better support your project when you add a new site, we added a Yes/No question (Has your project added a new site in the last 6 months) to let our MRV team and your portfolio manager know if they should support you with the addition of your new site.
Site Reports
New Questions
1. Reporting updates to your site/site boundaries within the last 6 months
To allow our MRV team and your portfolio manager better support your project with changes to your site boundaries, we added a question (Have there been any updates to your restoration site or site boundaries in the last 6 months) to capture updates within the last 6 months to your restoration site or site boundaries in your site reports.
2. Are you implementing assisted natural regeneration (ANR) practices to restore trees on this site? (Y/N)
If Yes:
Please describe the ANR practices you are implementing on this site.
You can learn more about why we are asking this question and how we define ANR here.
Nursery Reports
Updated Questions
1. Report only on updates from the last 6 months
The question has been updated to indicate that you should only report on updates in the last 6 months.
2. Clarity on seedlings grown for TerraFund
The question has been updated to indicate that you should only report on the total number of seedlings being grown for TerraFund.
3. Removed the question on community and nursery updates
The question on “Please share any updates or interesting facts about the nursery, saplings, or community at this stage” has been removed.
New Question
1. What are the details of the seedlings in your nursery?
We received feedback that projects capture a lot of detail in their nurseries, so we added an optional question (Seedling details) to help you report on the progress you have made with the seedlings grown in your nursery. You can now report on the details of the seedlings you are growing in your nursery by using the template.
The template allows you to report on:
- Species (scientific name)
- Source of seeds
- Number of tree seedlings ready for planting during this reporting period
- Number of seedlings currently growing in the nursery but not yet ready for transplanting in this reporting period
- Are they Native or Exotic trees?
- What is the potential commodity?
